Peebles Rovers missed out on three points as we succumbed to a 4-0 victory against Tynecastle on the opening day of the 2016/17 East of Scotland league at Whitestone Park
Two goals from Dean Crabbe and two penalties from Dayne Robertson saw the men in maroon return to the capital with the win.
The game started with early Tynie pressure, as Stewart Adams ran riot in the middle for the visitors.
The ball soon found its way into the clutches of left-back, Robbie McIntyre who beat his marker and dashed for the by-line, before sending a short cross to Dean Crabbe who gobbled up the ball and stabbed home past McGinley with just 5 minutes on the clock.
The nightmare continued for Peebles after a Robertson challenge on McIntyre ended in a penalty kick being awarded, with Robertson stepping up to drill the ball home to make it 2-0 after 15 minutes.
Peebles were not without their moments however, with both Schulz-Keith and David Lindsay seeing chances vanish into the gloves of Ross McMullen.
However, luck was not on the side of the Rovers as they lost a third goal on 44 minutes as Crabbe served as the executioner of the first half as he blasted a superb effort past McGinley between the posts.
The second half kicked off in the worst possible fashion, as another penalty was conceded on 47 minutes as Jason Newell fouled Swanson inside the box to hand another penalty to Robertson who delivered the killing blow to make it 4-0.
Peebles didn’t just sit back however, and efforts from Lee Zavaroni and Saul Schulz-Keith forced McMullan into action.
The Rovers turned up the heat, and began a bombardment of the Tynecastle goal, but it was to no avail as the visitors snatched all three points.
