Big Match Preview: Burntisland Shipyard

ROVERS are back on the road in league action tomorrow- taking on Burntisland Shipyard at Recreation Park. As the lads gear up for what’ll be another intriguing test – look at some of the major talking points ahead of the match…

Ger Rossi will be glad for the selection headaches that present themselves to him. The acquisition of Ross Young, a ball-playing centre-half, has bolstered defensive options – with Colin Smith and Ben Brown sure to provide support to Young as he steps into the East of Scotland breach.

However, based on his performances so far, it would be fair to say that Ross has taken to senior football like a duck to water. The gaffer spoke of the quality that the young defender brings, but his quality on the ball and hugely calm exterior was deeply impressive.

Rovers and Shippy have locked horns multiple times during Rossi’s reign – and for the most part, Rovers have accounted themselves well in this fixture. That said, Recreation Park is never an easy place to go: every game is a battle!

However, a glance at the tale of the tape indicates that Burntisland are beginning to build up some momentum. Victories over Coldstream and Tweedmouth have provided Shippy with some much needed-points. No game is a given in the East of Scotland, but Rovers will be sailing uncharted waters
