Alan McMath

Alan started out his football career at the age of 5 with Leithen Vale Sports Club and spent the next 10 years playing through the age groups before moving up to play for Leithen Rovers where he continued to play age group under Graham Meikle for a further 2 years winning numerous leagues and cups along the way.

At 17, he made the short move to Tweeddale Rovers to get more playing experience for 18 months  before returning to his home town where he plied his trade as a striker as part of an excellent team. In his 8 years there, he was top goal scorer 7 years in a row along with 3 South Cups and a number of leagues titles and leagues cups totalling an impressive 12 pieces of silverware.

‘Speedy’ finally moved on due to a drop in quality of the league and signed for Peebles Rovers under Ger Rossi. Last season, he scored a highly impressive 29 goals as the team finished mid-table but he has been deployed more as a centre half so far this season under Colin Smith.

Jon Davidson

Loanhead native Jon signed up for Rovers in the summer and has added crucial experience to the midfield. A winner of the Scottish Schools Cup at Ibrox when at Paradykes Primary, he went on to play for Loanhead Miners Welfare as an attacking midfielder and was picked for the East Region Select. Raith Rovers came calling but an unfortunate cruciate injury put Jon out of the game for over 3 years. He got back playing with Penicuik u21s before a successful amateur career with Loanhead for 5 years where he won numerous leagues and cups along the way. A period out of the game followed as family life took over but  he jumped at the opportunity to get involved with Colin Smith’s side in July. Jon is loving being back involved in the game, getting back to full strength and fitness under the coaching team and being one of the ‘old heads’ in the team to help guide the young squad in a league full of experience.
