Trips to Eyemouth are rarely good for any Rovers supporters blood pressure, but Ger Rossi’s men will be delighted with a good performance and the three points – which see us climb up to sixth in the LEAGUE TABLE
At a freezing Warner Park, Rovers burned off the chills to start brightly. Gregor Lamb was at his industrious best as he looked for a chink in the home side’s armour.
Revelling in the space he was allowed, Lamb tried his luck from 20-yards – the resulting effort whizzing past the post by a mere whisker.
We didn’t have to wait long for the first goal however after David Lindsay slammed the ball past Mark Walters with 15 minutes on the clock – the goal courtesy of a delightful McEwan pass.
From there on, Rovers grew in confidence and controlled the majority of the first-half: Ray Fleming, Lee Zavaroni and Alan McMath all seeing chances batter the woodwork or go wide.
The complexion of the game was to change on 31 minutes, after Daniel Blackie was sent off for fouling Ben McGinley in a one-on-one after a crazy lunge.
Eyemouth were almost given the tasering they needed as they immediately solidified as they tightened up with a man down.
But, it was to no avail as Gregor Lamb notched twice in the second-half: in the space of two minutes with two classy finishes.
Then, on top of an already superb performance, Michael McEwan scored to make it 4-0.
Robert Sterricks then powered home a fantastic goal in the dying embers of the match to make it 5.
Two late consolation efforts from Evan Smith & Richard Green weren’t enough as Rovers held on to the take the points back to Peebles.
