(Ger was thrilled with Jamie’s (Above) performance)

GER Rossi was beaming with delight after seeing Rovers put four past Heriot-Watt at Whitestone.
The gaffer led the boys to a 4-1 win in a match where the team fired on all cylinders – moving up to sixth in the table as we go into the business end of the league campaign.
It’s a win rendered even more impressive after Rovers went down to defeat against Heriot earlier in the season, with Ger delighted with his team’s response to that defeat.
Speaking to peeblesrovers.com, he said; “I thought it was a fantastic result, we said to the boys afterwards that it was a great indicator of how far they’ve come.
“We came very close in that game at Riccarton, especially because we were down to ten men.
“We were on top from the beginning and showed a lot of hunger and a desire to get forward.
“The pitch was undoubtedly tricky and didn’t make it conducive for football but the boys stuck to our plan and executed it well.”
One of the highlights of the match was Jamie Mackay’s stunning 25-yard strike to open the scoring in the second minute, before putting in an impressive performance.
Rossi believes the match revealed what the young defender is capable of, and looks forward to seeing more offensive showings in the future.
He continued: “We’re always saying to Jamie to try and get further up the park, and he’s sometimes been a bit reluctant to do that.
“His goal was very good, and hopefully it gives him the confidence to get forward more often.
“On an individual level, he played really well. He’s another young guy that has come so far over the past year.
“It’s a team game though, and as a whole we were fantastic. Jamie’s goal will dominate the headlines but you can’t single anyone out.
“Alan and Mikey were fantastic up top, and the midfield and defense were solid.
“This’ll be a massive three points as we look ahead to playing Leith next week.”
