Rovers gaffer Ger Rossi has expressed his happiness at getting back to the pitch, as his team gear up for our first pre-season friendly tomorrow.
The lads travel to Moffat Academy for a test against Upper Annandale of the South of Scotland League, with the Uppers likely providing a stern challenge for the squad.
But, the manager insists that getting minutes under the players’ belts is the most crucial aspect of the upcoming clash.
Speaking to peeblesrovers.com, Rossi said; “It’ll be good to get the minutes and it’ll be even better to get back into some competitive football.
“Annandale are a very decent side and it’s a tough one to start with, but we certainly looking forward to going through to Moffat.”
Whilst the manager believes a winning start isn’t critical, he insists it will be an excellent opportunity for players to cement a spot on the team-sheet with an early performance- more so, considering up to seven senior players are unavailable for the match;
“I wouldn’t say it’s a must-win match. On our side of things we’re missing quite a few players, up to seven I think.
“Obviously for momentum’s sake a win would be good, but when these boys come back from their holiday- hopefully we’ll have that building block where guys are already in the team because they’ve gone out and impressed here.”
