An annoyed Ger Rossi has expressed his frustration following last week’s King Cup tie against Preston Athletic.
Rovers went down 1-8 to Preston Athletic, as the Panner notched eight times in a ruthless second-half showing.
It was one of those days where nothing seemed to go right for the team – something that Rossi is firmly aware of.
Speaking to peeblesrovers.com, he told us: “I’ve been involved in football for a while now, but I’ve never seen a game controlled so poorly.
“Two sending offs and every other player booked in a game of football that only had a couple of hearty challenges from both sides.
“That being said however, our reaction in the second-half was nowhere near good enough.
“Going down to 10 early on hampered the control we set out to take in the first 20 minutes. And then coming out after half time still 1-0 up, the players were simply not good enough.”
Things started brightly for Rovers following Ndiweni’s first-half goal, but it was the team’s failure to compete in the second-half that Rossi was most displeased with.
He added: “Donny gets ordered off moments later and then its capitulation. It’s easy to criticise referees decisions, and believe me there were plenty that left everyone at Whitestone scratching their heads at times, but the buck stops in our changing room.
“We’ve played all the top teams in this division and some in the lowland league. And struggled to make a decent account of ourselves. That’s the most displeasing aspect
“There seems to be a bit of an acceptance when things are going wrong or getting tough within this group. It’s simply not good enough at this level.”
