SAUL Schulz-Keith has spoken of his delight at getting on the score-sheet again, following yesterday’s fine Alex Jack Cup win over Ormiston.
The big forward notched twice past Jordan Dunsmore at the Hibernian Training Centre to help Ger Rossi’s men book their spot in the next round. Whilst the former Tynecastle hitman was happy on a personal level, he was more pleased with the win and the team performance as a whole.
Speaking to peeblesrovers.com after the match, he said; “Yeah, I was absolutely buzzing after that. Those two chances came to me and I was able to put them away, but the more important thing is that the team got the win.
“To get through to the next round is massive for us, and we know we can go very far in this competition. That’s something that we have to believe, especially against some of the top teams we’ll be facing next, but hopefully we can do something this year.”
A big part of Schulz-Keith’s game yesterday was a budding partnership with Alan McMath up top, with the two linking up well to torment the Ormiston defence throughout the ninety minutes. It was a team effort that Schulz-Keith believes could develop further over the course of the season.
He continued; ” Working up there with Speedy was great, I think we compliment each other’s game well. He’s a real buzz-bomb: even in training you can see that we’re clicking and working well.
“Our styles of play do suit each other, with someone dropping short or going behind and playing on the shoulder. If we can keep going about this way going forward, we’ll both be amongst the goals and that’s only good for the team.”
