Year Rewind: 2017

It’s been another captivating year at Whitestone Park: we’ve had thrils, spills, and an abundance of goals! peeblesrovers.com takes a look back on some of the highlights of an incredible year.

1: VICTORY AT PALMERSTON PARK

October 2017 was an interesting time to be a Rovers supporter, as we made the trip to Palmerston Park for the first time in our 124-year history.

Our South Region Challenge Cup tie with Heston Rovers was switched to the home of Queen of the South after Whitestone fell victim to the weather.

The switch proved to be joyful for the Rovers, as one of the games of the season unfolded in Dumfries.

A striker masterclass from Alan McMath, who helped himself to his second hat-trick of the season, saw Peebles put the SOS outfit to the sword.

Pre-season in Peebles was rounded off in fine fashion after we clashed with Celtic Football Club in a glamour friendly at Whitestone in August.

Ross Lamb scored the only goal of the game for the home side, but what a goal it was, as he rattled the ball past Ryan Mullen in the second-half with a stunning free-kick.

3: A LITTLE SLICE OF HISTORY

2017 will be memorable to Peebles Rovers for a variety of reasons, but this result will be up there as one of our finest days.

We locked horns with Tweedmouth Rangers for the first time in the two clubs’ history. And what a first encounter it was, as we blew the Borderers away.
